The Iraqi Private Banks League initiated its 2025 agenda by hosting a workshop to discuss the annual report of its specialized committees. The event featured presentations from committees focused on academic coordination, financial inclusion, compliance, anti-money laundering, banking risk management, and credit operations.

Wadee Al-Handel, Chairman of the Iraqi Private Banks League, opened the session with a welcoming speech, extending New Year’s greetings and emphasizing the pivotal role of private banks in supporting the national economy by improving the quality of banking services and developing financial products to suit the needs of citizens and companies alike. 

Al-Handel highlighted the necessity of adhering to transparency standards and complying with the directives of the Central Bank of Iraq, while stressing the need for collaboration among banks to achieve financial inclusion and embrace technological advancements in the banking sector.

Al-Handel further noted that "2025 would serve as a transformative year for advancing the Central Bank of Iraq’s strategic objectives. The League will continue its commitment to supporting private banks in fostering economic development and providing essential funding for vital projects".

Samir Al-Nasiri, an advisor to the League, presented the annual report, shedding light on the League’s plans to implement the Central Bank’s 2025 strategy. He commended the work of committee leaders and members during 2024, highlighting their contributions to the League's achievements.

The workshop also included a panel discussion, during which committee leaders outlined their plans and proposals for the year ahead, reiterating their dedication to enhancing banking performance and aligning with developments that support the Central Bank’s goals.
