Ahmed Al-Hashemi, Deputy Executive Director of the Iraqi Private Banks League, participated in the third session of the Iraq Sustainable Development Forum, titled "Advancing the Green Economy: Financing Pathways."
In his remarks, Al-Hashemi highlighted the Central Bank of Iraq's initiative to support clean energy with funding of up to 1 trillion dinars. He described this initiative as a pivotal step toward an effective transformation in Iraq's energy sector, emphasizing that this financing will bolster the development of renewable energy infrastructure, attract both local and foreign investments, and create new opportunities for employment within the green economy.
Al-Hashemi stressed the need to intensify collaboration between public and private sectors and to advance appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks to ensure an investment-friendly environment that fosters sustainable development and transitions Iraq toward a green economy.
He also underlined the importance of having both local and international companies in the Iraqi market to supply solar energy products that comply with Iraqi standards, thereby safeguarding consumer interests.
