The Iraqi Private Banks League took part in the Leadership, Strategic Planning, and Financial Operations Digitization Forum, organized by Bayt Al-Hikma Training and Consulting Company (BHTC).
Representing the League, advisor Samir Al-Nusairi underscored in the opening session the critical role of banking leadership in designing and executing institutional plans. He stressed the importance of adhering to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards manual issued by the Central Bank of Iraq.
Al-Nusairi called for embedding governance principles within bank boards of directors and their subcommittees, reinforcing oversight, transparency, and disclosure, while mitigating various banking risks, and adhering to international banking standards.
He also reviewed digital transformation indicators and outcomes achieved by Iraqi banks, particularly in activating electronic payment services and strengthening cybersecurity, comparing data from 2022 to results as of June 30, 2025.
Al-Nusairi concluded by calling for the institutional and legislative integration of the private sector into economic policymaking to support sustainable development and strengthen the national economy.
