The British capital, London, witnessed intensive banking meetings hosted by Hogan Lovells, during which the Iraqi Private Banks League discussed the establishment of solid strategic partnerships, affirming Iraq’s openness to the British financial sector and international institutions.
These strategic discussions, organized jointly by the Iraqi Private Banks League and the British Embassy, were attended by the Prime Minister's Advisor for Banking Affairs, Dr. Salih Mahood, a delegation from the Central Bank of Iraq, representatives of the UK government, the global consulting firm Oliver Wyman, Iraqi and international banks, and international investment institutions. The meetings highlighted the ongoing structural reforms in Iraq’s financial and banking business environment.
The meetings focused on strengthening communication channels and concluding bilateral partnerships with British companies and banks, contributing to the development of banking services and supporting joint investment and trade activities.
The Iraqi private banks also participated in a specialized, separate technical session with international financial institutions, compliance experts, and representatives of the UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT) to review international standards and facilitate mechanisms for connectivity and partnership-building between Iraqi banks and the global financial system.
